Thanks for all the help. But I still have an issue. Bandit-x in his blog indicated that if you point to the root directory in the browser you will get the following error:
Quote:
This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

You can provide the following information to the administrators of this site to help them solve the problem:

Error: Smarty error: the $compile_dir 'XOOPS_VAR_PATH/caches/smarty_compile' does not exist, or is not a directory.

But I did point the browser to the /upgrade/ directory and got the same error message.

Also, "badcase" had commented that XOOPS_VAR_PATH should be defined in the mainfile.php. I have checked three different mainfile.php versions from the past and none of them have referenced to that path.

Thanks for your help....

Because this is new in 2.3.x

See more info about XOOPS_TRUST_PATH in FAQ and in this forum message

Is this implying that the upgrade procedure is referencing a definition that it has yet to install?
Or did he not follow the correct procedure?

I wondered the same thing. Perhaps mainfile.php was not writable during the upgrade. Was something missing from the file copy process? Was the installation aborted at some stage of the install?

P.s nice tutorial Bandit-x :)

I suspect that something went wrong, because the upgrade should take care of it.
