Maybe we should shut them down, so we can avoid confusion.

It’s NOT maybe!
You have to, as soon as possible.
It only spreads redundancy, confusion and misinformation.

Definitely agree!
When I started to create my own modules, I got off to SourceForge, dev.xoops.org, Wiki on both (categories: Development, DevWiki, etc). This made me headache. A lot of time wasted on understand what is going on instead of coding.

Ok, so a theme is in the works.
Will it change the layout entirely?
Otherwise a reorganization will still be necessary.
And why not change it right now?
The earlier the better.

And what about the other issues I named, some of them area really easy/simple to fix.

Again, see
redesign thread

So…
It's been some time now and I dunno if it’s just me, but it doesn't seem like the things I pointed out are being addressed.
I thought about helping and improving xoops, but I don’t see any management or improvement on the field I pointed out.
So, now I wonder…

And who should addressed them? If you think you can help, please do. If you do not know what to do, draw a plan. If you don't have tools, ask for paper and pencil. The same is to say that if you need SVN commit access, a forum, a mailing list, admin privileges, you should ask for them. Don't just sit and wait because it ain't going to happen. So, now I wonder...

@ RotzKotz_ere:

First, let me state that your feedback is appreciated. You've raised several good points.
But as with everything in life, it's a question of priorities, time, and resources.

Please remember, this is OpenSource project, i.e. we do it in our free time. I wish, I would have more of it

We are also depending on volunteers and their time. The more volunteers we have, the more we can accomplish.

For example, currently we have good energy around a new theme for XOOPS website. Obviously, the new theme has a priority over removing spam emails from mailing lists on SourceForge.

I am sure that we'll get to address many if not all of your points, but I hope you will help us in getting there...

New theme, ok.
In the other thread the svn was linked as well as a closed google group and a link to the "it's based on this" demo page in maintenance and thus, no longer viewable.
I don't know how long finishing it will take and as I said, I would improve the current site, without changing it's theme, anyway. At least if the new theme dev. does take more than 5 days.
I did post a huge post for what I would do, along with some reasoning, to the other thread and linked it from here as well.

About SVN access, I was asked about what modules or code I already did.
Fact is, I didn't do any yet.
Always just included header and footer for my scripts.

About the other things:
I obviously don't have the power to remove the wiki, documents section or mailing lists from sourceforge.
Neither do I know what's planned about splitting to dev.xoops.org, which seems useless to me and the current one heavily outdated.

Kissaki, just tell us where would you like to help, in what area would you like to be involved, and we'll accommodate you!

We need everybody who is willing to help - modules, themes, documentation, user support? It's open source, after all

Well, just not user support (as the main thing).
What I will do will depend.
I can translate to German and develop on modules, themes, contribute to the wiki (already did that a 'lil bit, but don't have enough info there).
Could also help on the database end.

Wherever you need me.

I'd have started on some tracker items or bug reports, but as those are all overcrowded, outdated and overall confusing rather than a help, I didn't know where to start anyway.

Anyway, dev.xoops.org once was for module development, right?
And for that only?
Then you switched to SVN for modules as well. Is dev.x.o not no longer in use? Should it be used in parallel?
What's with the DevWiki-pages on the wiki here? So is the dev.x.o wiki to be moved here?

/e:
Oh, and please, could you rename my account here to Kissaki?
I think I already asked about that somewhere. But I think only about that function for users…

OK, I've changed it to Kissaki

Since you already started there, working on Wiki would be a big help!

Frankblack (also from Germany) is working now onhttp://dev.xoops.org. This should be a central location for our developers. Currently we're planning a separate Wiki there, where we move all development related topics.

Thank you very much.

So, this site for information, downloads and user-doc,
dev.xoops.org for development.

Then I could probably mark the dev topics in the wiki here for removal…
At least if they’re outdated and/or already in the dev.x.o wiki.

/e:
Here’s what I would do right away, in your case.
*Make a backup of CVS repository if history wanted and remove it.
*Remove the sf documentation section
*Remove the sf tasks tracker – not used anyway
*rename the cvs2 mailing list to svn
*remove xoops-test mailing list. not in use anyway
*remove cvs-mods mailing list – does not seem to send the module-commits anyway. Just spam.
*xoops-svn mailing list is dead – remove (-cvs list seems to be the one this one should be)
*remove xoops security mailing list – not in use anyway
*remove xoops-repository – wth? dead anyway
*remove sf hosted mediawiki – we have a primary one here and on dev.x.o, right?
*remove sf hosted taskfreak
*remove sf hosted dotproject – not in use anyway, right?
*remove sf hosted codestriker – not in use anyway, right
*remove sf hosted trac – not in use anyway, right?
*add the piwik code to this site, so you’re actually using it

xoops design mailing list and xoops-docs are both dead.
-design is probably meant for (theme-)designers? Could be useful/should be used, thus promoted in wiki.
-docs same.

This can be done in 10 minutes and severely clears and improves the sf project page.
And it’s not something you have to spend hours for.
