why are my blocks so wide?

I am using the default theme, I never had this happen in the past .My center blocks are so wide? What have I missed? Where can I adjust this?

are you talking about left and right block or center_left and center_right

if left and right then check your left and right column size in css. set it the width in css

my center center blocks are very wide and the content doesn't fill the block and I don't see any size that I can change in the css

The default theme is a variable width them, it adapts it to fill the width of the screen. The css contains also no width, because the boundaries are free.
If you want a fixed with of your content, use another theme eg vgray.

If you meant something different, is there a link where we can see it?

somthing else you should consider. Your blocks would be wide if they are stretched by their content.
