I think I asked about doing this before and didn't find a solution. I believe I should be able to do this with a custom block and the rss to html code that I found here: http://www.feedforall.com

I have ran into a problem with the code though and they are not sure how to help me. Here is my post at their forum:

http://www.feedforall.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16497#16497

When I run the generator, it gives me an error because I don't specify a template. I don't want a template.

My end goal is to have a Google Alert on a specific topic (hermit crabs) show up as dynamically updating content in a block on XOOPS install.

Seems like this should be easier LOL

I think you can use a XOOPS module for that. There are some syndication modules as xhld, in the repository. Latest announced is Xreaggator.

Yeah I think someone mentioned that too but either it didn't work, wouldn't install or I'm too stupid to figure it out.

The X-Reaggregator is a new module. Maybe you should give it also a try.

Why do you not want a template with rss2html??

It's new?! Okay I will look at it then.

Template...well honestly I didn't think I needed one if it was part of XOOPS but no one at their forum was able to tell me how to configure a simple template.

As always, I need detailed instructions and theirs are lacking.

There is an example template in the download of rss2html, wasn't it?

I think there were examples of fields you could use in the template. I know I read through them and my head was spinning. You know that feeling when something looks like it's written in a foreign language?

I don't know where to begin with it to even try it. Do I make a php file and just start plunking fields in there? Is there some other code that needs to go with these fields?

Do I need an include statement in my XOOPS block?

I have tomorrow off so I will give it another go tonight and see if I can get anywhere with this new module.
