Good day.
I am using XOOPS 2.2.3 final and I would like to change host since I am not happy with the company (slow, expensive, and not.. customer friendly..)
I have a lot of stuf however and prior to change host I want to make sure that the procedure will work ok.
Is there a tutorial which explains all the necessary steps so that I can do this with success and without being afraid of loosing anything?
I would like to try it first in my local computer.
Thank you in advance
Anestis M.

This is a "quick and dirty" guide for you:

* make a backup of all you files (except cache directories such as "cache", "template_c" and all directories in "xoopsdata")
* make a backup of your mySQL database
* restore your files backup to you new location
* restore your mySQL database in your new location
* update your mainfile.php with correct data for:
- database (login, password, etc.)
- physical location and URL for your new domain

That's normally how I do it.

I hope, I didn't miss anything...

I did that, it worked ok, but there was a big problem with the character set. It displayed many ?????? on the national characters even though the character set was the same (both in the host company and in my local machine). I checked it through the phpmyadmin (database.. -> collation, etc...)
Any idea what to do in order to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance.
