How do I duplicate the "new" module so I have 2 copies running on 1 site?

I would like to install TWO of the "news" modules on the one site. Just wondering if it is possible. I assume I need to change the directory name and rename the tables in all of the module's files. Would this be all I need to do?

You would have to rename every instance of the original module name within the module as well as rename all tables to be created in the sql file for installation. Some modules have a built in clone feature that makes it much easier. Smartsection is one with this feature. But they also have a smartclone module that would have to be downloaded from subversion (as it is not released yet. I have tried that one on a recent job and it worked very well.

This Faq explains cloning a module and on Sourceforge is this clone of an ancient version.

lol Ghia, thanks for the blast into the past. Geez how old is that module!! lol

Personally I would be surprised if it worked on any current version of XOOPS never mind PHP5 (which I doubt it would). But, I don't think it would be very secure either.

I mentioned it more for educational purposes as headstart to the cloning process of the current version and not for actually using it.

I believe that 'educational' is the correct term :)

Thanks for your help. I have decided to go for the smartsection clones.
