Dear All,

I am trying to fetch the feed from http://www.sofiatimes.com/index2.php?option=com_rss&feed=RSS1.0&no_html=1 but the module keeps coming back with an XMLParse Error: Empty Document.

Does anyone have an idea as to what might be wrong? I have dealt with xml files so far for headlines, but I have no idea what might be causing the error this time.

And what steps did you take to repair your database charset problem?

What do you mean works? If you type it in the address bar, yes it works fine. But, if you try the headline to xhld, I get an XmlParse error on XOOPS 2.0.18. If you are so kind as to attach a screenshot of the xhld entry for this link, I would be grateful.

As for the database, I tried to alter table definitions by setting charset to greek and collation to greek_bin_ci, but it didn't work. It is a major issue, as I need to restore forum posts and other descriptions (e.g. photo titles) so I need to fix it soon. Any suggestions are most welcome.

Could it be the character set? The XML in the source looks valid.

I'm Sorry I had just woken up and wasn't fully functional when I answered your question. I hadn't even noticed that the link sent me to a Joomla Site.

I think your problems are related to your charset problem, as Dbman pointed out.

I will try and help you out in the other topic that you started.

I fully agree that it is a valid feed, however XOOPS would not accept it. I have got other feeds working with the same encoding, so I tempted to believe it is not an encoding issue. What else could I check?

I wondered if the charset and XHLD were not compatible. The feed works in other applications and checks out as valid so it's an issue with XHLD.

I am beginning to think that this is a server configuration error instead. His whole site is out of whack and not just XHLD.

Checked his source code and it seems the meta's are correct etc. so...... your guess will prolly be better than mine ;)

I thought that originally as well. I tested in one of my XOOPS installs and it throws and XML error when submitted in XHLD with the feed URL.

You're right the feed's meta tags look OK and it validates fine at W3C. I tested all the RSS variations from the feed's originating site (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0) and all throw the same error when added to XHLD.

Strange that no one else has reported this problem regarding this widely used module. Which version of XOOPS did you use?

Hopefully, he find a solution to this issue.
