Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')', expecting '(' in *****/public_html/office/kernel/object.php on line 1008

Any idea what this means?

Which version do you have?
When did this happen (suddenly, after installation, upgrade)?
If it is 2.3.x, did you run the filecheck (see release notes)?

Hi, thanks very much for responding.

The version I am using is the latest download from sourceforge. I downloaded about 3 days ago. And installed yesterday. The installation went flawless until I navigated to the url after the install.

I ran the checksum.php, and it told me all the files were missing... im assuming because my root diectory is not htdocs, it is public_html, and besides I have XOOPS installed in a subdirectory.

Im not at my computer right now, but when I get there I can manually check to see if all the files are there.

I get the same error and this is the report I get

./banners.php content invalid
./footer.php content invalid
./imagemanager.php content invalid
./index.php content invalid
./lostpass.php content invalid
./misc.php content invalid
./class/xoopseditor/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/plugins/emotions/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif content invalid
There are 3285 files checked.

What do I do?

Unless you have edited some of these files deliberatly, you have to replace them. Sometimes it helps also to download a fresh copy of the distribution zip archive.

There is nothing in the instructions about specifying the URL. Is there a file I have to edit to do this before I install?

You have to upload these files listed again until the check passes.
