A system administrator from the local state office contacted me. Their users are unable to get through to our site because of their proxy program.

Their top level proxy gets through fine.

However, most of theirs users are at the second level proxy.

They sent me their error message and asked if I could assist in helping them to connect.

Since I have no clue what she is talking about, are there any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this problem?

There is a line that says:
Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0

At the Apache site it says:
Cache-Control: no-store This object may not be stored in any cache, even the requestor’s browser cache. Cache-Control: no-cache This object may be held in any cache but it must be revalidated every time it is requested.

The expires time is ancient.
Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT

And the cache and cache lookup MISS for their site.


So does this mean I need to allow them to store the files on their proxy server? How do I do this?

With a .htacess file?

The error code was sent in by the user. I'd post it, but then protector gets mad at me and bans me from the site for a few days.

I am a xxxxx for the xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. We have users here that are unable to get to the ladads.info site through our proxy. I was able to get to the site at our top level proxy, but unable to get to it at our second level proxy. Our users here go through the second level proxy to get out to the internet. Can you assist us with correcting this issue? Please see the error message below. This is what we are getting.

first line is a ' g e t 'site address'

next line is an ' A c c e p t and a list of types of files it accepts.

next line is an ' A c c e p t language

next line lists ' U A - C P U x 8 6

next line lists ' User Agent Mozilla

next line says ' P r o x y C o n n e c t i o n Keep Alive

next line says ' H o s t ladads.info

Next line describes the cookie

Next line give the session information ' p h p s e s s i d

Next line describes the type of http

Next line gives the date and time

Next line lists the type of server Apache

Next line lists the 'C a c h e C o n t r o l

That is where the no store, no chage, must revalidate, post check and pre check lines are

Next line is an expires line with a very old date

next line is a pragma line with a no cache

next line is an x cache indicating a MISS from xxxxx

xxxx being their computer server

next line is a x cache lookup indicating a MISS from xxxx

xxxxx being the same server with the 8080 port specified.

repeat the cache and the cache lookup for a different server at the users end

then the proxy connection is closed.


So I think the problem is with the APACHE server and not with the Xoops.

I think this is totally outside the scope of XOOPS and you ask it better on an Apache or proxy related forum.
