I am an employee at a small electrical engineering and installation company. It is my goal to create a small portal that will allow the employee to communicate, post job updates, images of work, use it to email eachother(say someone is using a computer that doesn't have outlook, they could log in to the portal to send an email to the other employee), and maybe even a time card system.

I was looking through the modules and saw the link to the module packs:

CommercePack_2.0.zip Mirror 7284275 4713 Platform-Independent Source .zip
CommunityPack_2.0.zip Mirror 8298718 6355 Platform-Independent Source .zip
CompanyPack_2.0.zip Mirror 5827105 4101 Platform-Independent Source .zip
IntranetPack_2.0.zip Mirror 10643687 4171 Platform-Independent Source .zip
PersonalPack_2.1.zip Mirror 6192453 4816 Platform-Independent

Now obviously the personal pack isn't what I would want to use as a baseline, but I couldn't find a listing anywhere of what modules are included in the other packs?

If someone could help point me in the right direction of the different modules that will help my task it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time,
Gregory Miller

I don't think these packs have been updated with the latest versions.
So, you better start with the current version V2.3.2b .
Then you could look in the module repository for modules that suit your needs.
- For articles and News: News 1.63
- For images: XcGal or other albums.
- Users can communicate with the included standard Private Message
What is a job update?
Time cards? Maybe Formulize or something else in the module repository.

I'd like to have the capability to e-mail to the normal e-mails through the portal if possible. Because most of our communication is done through outlook, but when someone is on the job they don't always have their computer with their outlook set up.

Job Updates: A lot of our companies work is travelling, so not everything can be supervised by everyone. The ability to log in and post what they accomplished in that day. Like a work log, maybe is a better way to word it.

There are some email modules, but rather old and difficult to configurate. The genre is also obsolete, while there is so much good webmail support these days.
Have a look at some project (or maybe even some event) modules.
