Re: Trying to install Forums CBB 4 RC

Hey again all,

I just installed Frameworks and Xoopseditor again and tried to install CBB 3.08. It is still giving me the diagnostic that Newbb is already installed.

If I deactivate Newbb 2.02 it still says that Newbb is already installed when I try to upgrade to 3.08.

I am scared to deinstall the old module in case it deletes all of the existing forum posts. I would really appreciate some guidance here.

Thanks again,
Tim

I could install XAMPP etc, but how would that solve the diagnostic that indicated that Newbb is already installed?
It may or may not give you that error, but it allows you to SAFELY experiment without any danger of losing data and to retry operations by restarting from the backup.

I don't know what you have already done, but deactivating etc is not to be done.
AFAIK the upgrade process should be as follows:
- Starting with a working version of CBB 2.02
- Close your site.
- Make a backup!
- Copy all files from 3.08 to your site (replacing the old files).
- In admin module manager do update module. (this will detect the different versions and do the corrections to the database as eg changing table fields and adding tables bb_moderates, bb_reads_xxxx).
- Test the update.
- Reopen your site.

Done, and it seems to have worked.

Thanks for your help.

Tim.

OK, but now new problems.

Despite trying to turn off all forms of thumbnailing, the forums are now decreasing the size of all images in the post. They initially render at full size, then snap to a smaller size.

How do I turn this off? Please.

I tried that change and it didn't work.

Please see this page:

For an example, refresh the page and watch the images resize.

Thanks.

Did you empty the cache and template folders (except index.html)?

Which theme are you using? Does it happen also with the default theme?
What is the html source of the image?
If you are using Frameworks, you may change the defines in /Frameworks/textsanitizer/config.php too.

Changing the config.php in Frameworks seems to have done the trick.

Many thanks for that - I would never have found that by myself.

Cheers,
Tim
