I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question anyways

My webhosting cpanel shows the php version to be 5.2.5 where as the system overview on my admin page shows the php version to be 4.4.8.

Any reasons why this would be happening. Is there a way to find what php version am i actually on.

Make yourself a file called phpinfo.php containing this code:

(); ?>

Upload it into the root folder of your webspace (not necessarily your xoops_root).

Run it

The situation that you describe is not unusual, btw

In your cPanel, you have a Software / Services tab with a PHP configuration icon. The configuration may be set to system default or PHP 4 or 5.
