UPDATING XOOPS

Hi everybody
I have noticed that there is a new XOOPS version. How do I update my existing site? I loged in as administrator and went to the modules page. When I clicked on the System module to update it from version 1.02 to whatever is newer it just says that it is updated (and puts todays date) but the version is still 1.02. What am I missing?

Hi MrGeorge,

1) Please don't post twice the same message.

2) To update your current installation, you'll need to download XOOPS 2.3.1, and then follow exactly the upgrade instructions.

It seems that you're a beginner in XOOPS, so before you do the upgrade, please make sure that you've made a backup of all your files and your database, and that you understand how you can restore them, if needed!!!!

Hi,

did you uploaded the new files?


There is a readme in the release for the upgrade. Read first!

Also make sure you do a backup of your site before upgrading!!!

How do I backup the entire website and the database?

Mosttimes there are functions provided in your website management software eg. cPanel to do that.
There are also some XOOPS modules.
