After completing a new install and logging in. I selected the administration menu.
I recieve a mainfile.php permission error, that it is writeable and to change it to read only. (windows server)

But the error doesn't go away and the file is set to read only?

Can anyone help.

PS> I had an unrelated problem with a blank page on completing the install. After much digging I found that the install instructions has you make some files writeable but they should be chmod 777. Once done the problem was corrected

The Problem was not resolved. Deleting cookies cleared up another area but I still get the message. Has anyone run in to this before.

Thanks

Rick

I have just uploaded a php code that test if files are writable it also indicates that the mainfile.php is read only.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Thanks,

Rick

chmod 444, right? Not writable, not executable.

It's a windows server. but yes it is set at read only no other privileges: I have php code also uploaded to the server when run that indicates the mainfile.php is not writable. (read only) Could XOOPS 2.3.1 have a problem with windows permissions ? I don't have problems with other php software such as mambo or open-realty.

Thanks,

Rick

is protector installed, and if so, are the xoops_dir and xoops_lib directories' permissions set according to the instructions?
