yes, i guess your upgraded website had in /language/yourlanguage/global.php

//%%%%% LANGUAGE SPECIFIC SETTINGS %%%%%
define('_CHARSET', 'ISO-8859-1');

By default, XOOPS 2.3 has now

//%%%%% LANGUAGE SPECIFIC SETTINGS %%%%%
define('_CHARSET', 'UTF-8');

you have to change it back to ISO.

Additionally, I guess you choose the "Do not change" option at the upgrade page "Database character set and collation"

i was reading my notes and today i checked it out on my computer. i guess i wrote my notes wrong..

i should have posted that there is one file in there for the default permission template (xoops_newbb_perm_template.php) . the other newbb files should just be cache files.

Nope...... I don't have that either

At least, not with XOOPS 2.0.18.2......

I guess I'm going to try the update now, hopefully there aren't any more major problems.

After all the advice, I finally upgraded my XOOPS to 2.3.0! Now for a whole new set of problems.

Whenever I try to use View Account, I get the following error:

Fatal error: Class 'XoopsFile' not found in /home/******/public_html/class/cache/file.php on line 120

The ****** was taken out to protect myself. What file is it calling for?

EDIT: Solved the problem by just updating all the modules.

Quick ignoramus question...hehehe
I managed the upgrade with the fixes mentioned in this post..the template.php one.
But my home page is blank...???
If I go directly to a module my site displays fine, but if I go back to "Home" it's blank... My blocks configuration is intact.
any ideas advice... thanks

You've asked the same question in three places, mannyo. How are you going to keep track of who's answered it where?
