Increasing log in time for admins? Sessions?

I have a client that is having a problem staying logged in while she updates her site. She claims she does not have enough time to complete the updates before she is requested to log back in and then looses all the information that she previously wrote. Where and how do I extend this time.

Tried custom sessions in preferences to increase session time. It removed the "user menu" on the front page when custom session was activated.
I'm sure I'm on the right track, just need some direction.

It's possible that the changing logs you out, after log in you should be able to profit from the prolonged time.

What actually happens is the website says you are still logged in but access to the admin pages are not present on the front page or any other page. In otherwords the block that says "User Menu" does not show up.

Did you check the settings for the block in admin - blocks?

Yes, access was there before changing to the special sessions configuration, not there after activation. Block (user-menu)active all pages in Block-admin for all registered users.

Did you already activate debug in admin - preferences - system - general?
Are other system blocks like who's online acting normal?
Can we see your problem?

I cannot duplicate her problem. Everything works fine for me when logged in as admin. I'm on a mac. She, on the otherhand, is running windows. She is not talented enough to do a screen shot to send to me. I am just taking her word for it. Running debug would not do any good for me as I see no problems from my computer. I looked for a more detailed explanation of sessions in the wikki but found only the basic of information. If there is a way I can hard code the default session time to greater than 15 min I can bypass all the custom session stuff.

Shouldn't make a difference.

I'm afraid, you must see it yourself at her PC.

It might be a PHP.ini setting?
