How can I add pagination to search.php

Can anyone advise me on how to add a count and pagination to the main XOOPS search?

So for the main search of the website, I would like results to show total number of results and to have pagination (rather than just next and previous).

Download module mysearch from xuups.com. It has pagination, counter and autocompleter.
