Which forum is best for xoops?

I moved my macmend.com site from XOOPS some time ago and converted the forum to SMF.
I have been thinking about a return to XOOPS but am concerned about my forum.
The SMF bridge module, is not really a bridge, and is difficult to make work.
Are there any convertors to take smf back to another form that has a good module.
Which is the best forum for xoops? Newbb and Cbb whilst adequate always seemed to lack a decent GUI, what other options are there.

Any advice or help would be gratefully received.

69 views and no opinions is it a record....just as an idea as to how quick google picks up on these things, if you type "best forum for xoops" into google, this forum entry now comes top.....so if you have a great forum module, why not tell me about about it in this thread...

I like CBB and 4.0 should be good, CBB 4.0 alpha is going good for me on a couple of sites ;o)

Comes down to personal preference I spose.

Re: Which forum is best for xoops?

I am using XOOPS 2.0.18.1 and installed Framworks 1.22 already.

I upload CBB 3.08 to module folder - XOOPS does not understand CBB as module.

I upload CBB 2.32 to module - XOOPS understands CBB module, but I cannot install it (click to install bottom, and I got a empty page)

Could you help me how to fix it?

thanks and best regards,

Hi' macmend

It's hard to answer You question.
If I google "what car is best for me?" I get no clear answers...

But I understand You anyway
The problem are what

I think CBB is the best but there are also
Xforum and
newbbex

I think you have to try all tree modules and see which fits your needs.

What are you missing in the GUI of CBB
Have You tried to change the images and/or change the templates?

yes I used newbb and cc through many upgrades and altered it considerable to my ends but it still doesn't compare to SMF.

I am interested by the number of hits on this thread, forums are an important topic, I am stuck, looks like I will have to leave smf and start a new forum from scratch. I cannot get 2.0.18.1 to recognise x forum. The CBB website at xoopsforge sends an error each time I try to post....hmmm
