Link Click/Button Click takes user to index page...Please Help Me on This one

Hi all,

Well, I am a former user...entered into hospital for a while and went into a coma for 13.5 days...now, being able to recover a bit and lounge with new site, seems I have "forgotten" everything to do with xoops...sigh...

Anyway...all my buttons or the links which a user clicks are taking them directly to the index.php page...how do I fix this? Below is what they see and of course, this is NOT what we want...if they click on the index.php, then to the page they go...but hmmm...you can see my problem here...where do I correct this?

Thanks all
Jim

Jim,

Glad to hear you're doing better and welcome back to Xoops!!

There's a couple of things you can try and then it might help if you provide a little more information.

1) Clear ./templates_c directory (except for index.html)
2) Clear ./cache directory (except for index.html & adminmenu.php)
3) Make sure that both ./templates_c and ./cache directory are writable (chmod 777).
4) Turn on PHP debug (Admin>Preferences>General Settings) to see if there are any Warnings, etc.

If these don't help then perhaps you could provide us with a little more information like: PHP version, MySQL version, XOOPS Version, theme used, modules installed, any unique .htaccess settings...

Ok...did all that...and still when click on the links...it shows anyone the entire index.php menu as posted above. This applies to not only the default theme given by XOOPS as well as others we have in place.

I have XOOPS version 2.0.18.1 installed. Php version 2.11.4
and MySQL version 4.1.22

I do not recall this problem the first time I used XOOPS back during 2002-2005...we simply installed, added modules, themes etc and it did not take us to the index page for all to see...I feel there has to be a "simple" solution on coding but again, I realize not all is simple...

Any further suggestions?
Thanks for all your help

Re: Link Click/Button Click takes user to index page...Please Help Me on This one

Well...totally lost totally confused...I looked that over but it still did not resolve the issue...is there not a way to edit and get the page to point to links instead of taking everyone to that index page I mentioned on first post? There is no way we can have that as all can see...geeze, would just get everyone as confused as me...

Again, the issue is when one clicks on a link such as home...they are taken to our complete index page...we need it to go directly to "home" or whatever it is suppose to do..

Guess maybe we are just at a lost...will wait for further advise and try anything :)...I did a source on pages and it seems that the .index.php file is simply missing from the button links...if that makes sense. If we can get that in the coding of buttons...all will be fine..

Just a thought....

Are the xoops_root_path and xoops_url correct in mainfile.php?

The root_path will be the physical path to your website on your server

the xoops_url will bear some resemblance to the web-address that you type in your browser's address bar.

Care to post a link to your site so the folks on here can trouble-shoot?

Hi Jim,

Glad you're sorted out.

Please can you clarify which of the solutions you used - might help someone else with the same problem when they search on here for a the solution.

Glad you're feeling a bit better, too

Re: Link Click/Button Click takes user to index page...Please Help Me on This one

Ok...here is where I am...from our site at http://2nolimit.com members can click on NoLimit_Xoops and can get to the site...

However, when they click on any of the module links from the XOOPS site...it takes them to the "index.php" page listing all the information for given module...

Where or how do I edit this to make sure they go to module page? Trying to figure it out now...if anyone can help...I may need to make this a separate post but not sure

Thanks Jim
