Just post your URL on this site. (yes, I mean XOOPS.ORG) Since I updated my profile with my new website URL on here yesterday my protector module has logged close to 100 attempted attacks from a wide variety of I.P.'s. Before that there were NO attack attempts. So far it has blocked CRAWLER, DOS, xmlrpc, and UPLOAD. Granted, 2 of the UPLOAD attacks were me testing out the x-torrent module, but the rest were from different I.P.'s

I LOVE GIJOE!!!!

P.S.- Xoops-Stats module shows my referrers at about 99% Xoops.org, so I know they found my site here.

Hum, that´s not good to know, but is expected. I noticed a spammer registering false users, or trying to, eheh. This happens in just one of the sites I have running xoops, and is the one appended in my signature bellow.

I'll tell you what... Right after posting this topic I added the offending IPs to the Bad IPs section in Protector and there hasn't been a single attempt since.

I've never posted my site's URL in my sig on here for this very reason

Paranoid..... maybe

I've had a couple of ISOCOM/SQL Injection attempts in the last few days, which has been a first for me. Can't think why anyone would want to hack a relatively inoccuous and unoffensive site like mine, but there you go

I've reported the attempts to the relevant ISP - not heard back from them but the attempts have stopped.

If I get any more that I'll configure Protector to automatically ban the culprits rather than "blank screen" them.

See this thread if you want to post thanks to GiJoe - keep it on the front page and he might even read it

lol... come on, guys... what is the point of having a site if you go throught life being afraid it will be hacked because of a link... as a matter of fact, getting linked to from sites with high pagerank like this one (pr 8) will only benefit you and your site. You can start to worry if a human hacker wants to have a go... and i'm not talking about script kiddies which probably couldn't hack your site even it they tried very hard.. providing protector is installed... so unless XOOPS have put rel no follow on the signature links, which i doubt, it is a good thing... Stop worrying about being hacked and stop checking the protector for possible hacking attempts all the time..

So what happend here... how did they find your site if you don't have a link to your site from another, except search engines of course...

Relax folks!

My site is for a social group and is well-linked from others serving the same past-time from all over the world.

My site provides a service to our group's membership so I'm not that bothered about "hits" per se.

I don't use the site for revenue generaion. If I do at some point in the future then I'd certainly link from here
