For the record: I do not wish to be involved in any quarrels between groups of developers/ directors / volunteers etc. This is really where my participation in this discussion stops.

Licences of XOOPS software (modules) concerns us all. I hope to deal with it in a constructive fashion.

I should not have debated Marcan's product SmartSection while Marcan is not here. I was not aware of this.

With regards to the comments on the advertisement's, I spoke to Marcan, he never imposes restrictions on removing such things, and will take that feedback on board and possibly look at doing things a little different for future releases.

Xigg can run as standalone app too. And with Pico
we have the two best modules ever made for Xoops
and XCL

Seems Ono and Gijoe deserve some public credit

Onokazu is the Founder of XOOPS and as such we can't credit him enough!!! Without him, we wouldn't have XOOPS!!

And Gijoe is one of the finest module developers out there.

No, there's no suggestion of that. SmartFactory modules are GPL. They are generally very good and well supported. It's just the ads I object to. You can remove them if you are prepared to hack the code a little. I would just rather not see them there in the first place.


I created a derivate of SmartSection without the hidden text links, the banner on the Admin site is still the same. See https://sourceforge.net/projects/freesection/
