login problem with 2.0.18.1 rc

at first it seemed that it was all ok, because I stayed log in...
when tested in another browser it wouldn't log in. but I also tested some other stuff so I figured there is another problem.

but tommorow I couldn't log with any user in any browser...

it simply says the standard "thank you for loging in..." message, but you are not logged in. it is not a cashe problem for sure.

so I tried returning the files to the 2.0.18 version.

when I returned the file "XOOPS_ROOT/kernel/session.php" to it's previous version it started working again.

so I guess the problem is in this file. thou the only differance is line 78.
it states "var $enableRegenerateId = false;" in 2.0.18.1, and it said "true" in 2.0.18.
Not sure how this affectes the problem, but it has to be it.
it is only used for a check in one place, and I am not sure what it does.

Re: login problem with 2.0.18.1 rc

I wish I had seen your post before I posted the following in the news article announcing the release of 2.0.18.1rc:

Quote:
Regarding this issue. I had the same problem. But, I also got a blank page when it was trying to log on.

I first tried clearing all the relevant files in the cache directory, then the templates_c directory. No go.

The next step, I tried replacing all files in the 2.0.18.1 RC with the 2.0.18 full version, step by step, starting the the class directory, then the include directory, and so on. As part of that process, I tried replacing the file noted in the previous comment, and it still did not properly initialize the session or log me in and I still had the blank page.

It was only when I replaced the /modules directory that it started the session, cleared the blank page and logged me in. I cannot say which file made the difference, but hopefully the comments made will highlight the necessity of investigating this further and point to some solutions.

Thanks for the updates and upgrades...

Another good argument for using the search function...

I had the issue with all browsers.
MMM...It tastes like chicken! ...

Re: login problem with 2.0.18.1 rc

seems the issue I was talking about is still present in the 2.0.18.1 release (not RC).

the solution still applies.
don't know if this is a local thing (like only from my computer I can't login), but I wasn't going to try it either

Re: login problem with 2.0.18.1 rc

ok it seems XOOPS 2.0.18.1 also seems to have the above problem with internet explorer 6 even after applying the above hack. Firefox seems to work perfect again after appying the above hack. Interestingly in case of a fresh install on my local server both firefox and IE 6 are working perfectly even without the above mentioned hack. So i think its some upgrade related issue. Anyways any idea on how to get this problem solved

Re: login problem with 2.0.18.1 rc

right now you are using the default iso-8859-1 mate! have a look in the forums it says how to change it if you really need to. I tried using utf with greek language and had the login problems...till this is sorted i suggest you stick with latin1.
