Hi guys,

Newbie here! I just installed this program 20 minutes ago, and everything looks great.

I would like my users to log in and write new postings right away. 1) Is this built-in in the "default" XOOPS solution, or 2) do I have to download a separate module to make this happen?

A little bit about my project, while I'm at it:

My ambition is to build a site where dissatisfied customers can post complaints about services or goods. See ripoffreport.com, which is pretty close to what I'm aiming for.

The site will have the following functions:
- creating and editing user profiles (in standard XOOPS)
- user login/ logout (in standard XOOPS)
- register a complaint (*not* in standard XOOPS)

I think XOOPS will serve my needs. But which modules would you guys choose to accomplish this task?

for the complaint part based on the site example you given ...i suggest use a simple forum such as newbbex
http://xoops.instant-zero.com/modules/pages/index.php?pagenum=3

you can easily edit the module templates (modules/newbbex/templates/)

To address your question of needing a module. YES

For what you explained I don't know that I would use a forum type module like Newbex or CBB.

You may want to take a look here first to decide in one of these modules will work best for you.

Always check the date of release and developer information as well as visit the developers web site if available to double check for newer versions/updates as well as support.

Thanks for replies, guys.

I've decided to program the modules myself. All I really need is the basic "log-in/log-out" functionality that the XOOPS shell provides.

Is there an easy way to integrate this "log-in/log-out" functionality in my application?
