Error: Could not detect the physical path to your XOOPS directory.

I've looked through all the different topics that contained something along these lines, none of them provided the solution.

I used the dirname(___FILE__) command (in a file in the same directory as mainfile.php) to get the physical directory, something like this:

/home/SUBDIRECTORY/USERNAME/public_html/xoops

So, I plug this in, STILL doesn't work, removing the /xoops, still doesn't work. Any ideas?

not sure why it would do that...you can try this though, see if it gives you something different...make a new file called phpinfo.php

put <?php phpinfo(); ?> in it

save it to the same place ur mainfile.php is, browse to it, and search for SCRIPT_FILENAME...see if that gives you something different.

Same thing, already went through phpinfo.

I'm kinda thinking it's just a general bug though. Why?

Well, it detects when the path is WRONG. If I added a /www/ in front of the path, it gives me two errors on the physical path, meaning it's going through and detects, however, when I take it off, the other error goes. It may just be a typo with the conditional.
