2 posiibilities:

1) Your file name is not ".php"
2) PHP not setup correctly

Are u setup server yourself ?

Re: physical path for XOOPS_ROOT_PATH ??

i've installed XAMPP yesterday, so i don't think anything's wrong with that. But does that even matter, cuz doesn't the host have its own apache/php/ etc?
i could post the url of the file here but i'm not sure if that's safe

If you are using XAMPP, the configuration should be correct right out of the box.

Make sure the file has the right extension, like phpinfo.php, make sure you have the file in the correct location (XAMPP's web root), and make sure the URL you are accessing in your browser is correct, like http://localhost/phpinfo.php.

With XAMPP, if you browse to http://localhost/, there should be a phpinfo() item in the menu on the left side.

This little script may be of some use to you. I believe there is a readme instructions file included in the package.

Hope this helps!

Re: physical path for XOOPS_ROOT_PATH ??

look it's just this part that doesn't work for me:
Quote:
the quickest way to find your physical path and get your full site online is to create a new text file using a general text editor (also found in the Useful Programs FAQ). In that file, type the following Save that file with a name like path.php (use a different name!). Upload this file to your web root using your FTP program. Then open your browser and type http://www.yoururl.com/path.php (or, whatever your filename was). You should get a page full of information - scroll down the page to the section labeled 'Apache Environment'. Look for the variable DOCUMENT_ROOT, the value of that variable will be your physical path for XOOPS_ROOT_PATH

and a little further it says "In your web host's control panel, go to phpMyAdmin" how do i do that?
or isnt this possible with the webspace i got from my internet provider (the 50mb you get free with your internet connection)...

It depends on whether the webspace is configured to allow running PHP scripts. My guess is "no", but you could ask your internet provider.
