Does anyone know of a module which will upload and extract a .zip file on the server? I was digging through Joomla's codes to see if I could figure how they did it but after long hours I got no where.

This would be a great module as folders (like a folder of images for xcgal album) could be compressed and uploaded faster and without an FTP client.

Would even be nice if it was built into Xcgal module (big suggestive hint)

I can't remember if Xcgal have this feature but you may check the "xoopsgallery" module athttp://www.xoopsgallery.org .

It already get this feature.

Cheers!

GIJOE's module avaman is able to upload and unpack zip-files for mass uploading of avatars and smilies.
Not sure if it can be used for other things, but maybe the module can be modified for other purposes.

The net2ftp seemed like it might work but it is very limited to 500KB max file size and 30 second timeout. My host uses Cpanel which allows .zip upload and extract but it just means I have to be logged in. I really just need it for uploads to XCgal so maybe I need to contact the author and see if they would be willing to add such a feature.

I prefer the functions of XCgal over Xoopsgallery.
