This spans a couple of issues and programs - ie. core hacks, modules, phpbb, xoops, etc.

Programs installed:
XOOPS - 2.0.9.2
PHPBB - 2.0.11
bbpixel PHP hack - v1.23
newssync - 1.5 beta 6

Main goal:
To have newsgroup posts on a forum. Currently trying to integrate XOOPS and phpbb to do this effectively.

Preface:
Understandably messing around with a several different programs that are beta and core hacks can really interesting results, but looking to see if some had prior experience with this or can help troubleshoot it.

Problem:
I have phpbb integrated with XOOPS using the bbpixel core hack (knowing the problems with future upgrades) and newssync running and grabbing the newsgroup posts. The only issue is that all posts will not following their topic. Replies are posted as their own topic with RE: preceeding.

I have it running well on a stand alone install of phpbb, but this does not provide the desired intregration with the website.

All posts coming in as their own topic is ok, but not completely desireable.

Just a shot in the dark if someone might have some ideas on this.

I assume you've asked this over at bbpixel? He is by far your best bet to get this working.

That was my next step today (ran out of time last night).

Has there been an update on this?

My XOOPS site, testdriven.com, places nntp content into forums using a backend script (using evil procmail). It does so by processing incoming mail from the newsgroup, which is only partially satisfactory, especially as far as threading is concerned.

A module that would tap into NNTP directly would indeed be a good solution; I looked at the Web-news module, but it doesn't seem to be available now.
