1) Mudnuts4x4  - I am looking for a module like phpBB 
Garage 1.0.3 I have been searching all the XOOPS sites and 
havent found one. Does XOOPS have anything like this? 
2) Script_fu - Thats the only thing I have ever seen that 
is XOOPS related and worth a darn.[color=990000] Its 
closed source so you wont be able to use it. [/color]
(Sorry) I wish I could build it. [i] Anything that anybody 
knows about XOOPS and automotive websites would you post 
what you know? [/i]
3) Biteronboard - there is a phpbb bridge out there that 
will allow you to integrate phpbb with your XOOPS install, 
then its just a matter of installing the phpbb addon as 
normal.
..... 9) Northern - Since the files in phpbb have been 
modified to make it x-phpbb the files need to make the mod 
work, are nolonger  
..... 10) script_fu - You certainly cleared that up! No 
version of XOOPS above 2.0.9.2 will work with X-phpbb.

19) Northern - IPB or better know as X-IPB is still around 
for xoopscripe
i use it in calibernation as a news board.
and Calibernation is 2.0.16
but the X-ipb has the same problem as X-phpbb had, the 
source coad has been altered to work with xoops. 
so the codes you need for the garage mod, are MIA

two work with the cerrent version ox xoops. 
~we have X-IPB. its based off ipb 1.4+ it works on 2.0.16
~we have X-IPB for XOOPS 2.2.4 its also based off IPB 1.4+
1.4+ is the free IPB, LOL 
Both XOOPS cores and IPB's are modified to make them work 
almost like one unit.
~X-SMF is based off SMF 1.1.2 ( latest version ) it works 
on 2.0.16
It has no hacks on the XOOPS core files of the standalone 
SMF files.
~X-phpBB stoped at 2.0.9

Thow ive been thinking about what it would take to bring 
it up to date.

29) script_fu - Hey northern the link i posted above takes 
you right to there shopping cart. You half to go thru all 
the motions just like you are buying something. The only 
difference is you dont need a credit card its free.  Base 
on what I've read and now seen you need the reg# to get 
the ipb garage mod to work. The mod will do you no good 
with out the reg code.  The cart system generates the reg 
code for the garage mod so make sure you copy it down.

I would suggest the following modules (heavily) hacked by 
one friend at XoopsGreece.

New vehicles: Click on "Νέα Μοντέλα" on the right and the 
categories below that. It is the module  'SmartSection' 
Used vehicles: Click on "Μεταχειρισμένα" on the wright and 
you can alphabetically choose any make with pictures and 
details... The module name is 'cars' and it is a hacked 
very known XOOPS module (which I don't remember wright now 
bu I can find out)


54) RECAP - The original topic starter "MudNuts4x4" has a 
4x4 Truck site that is set up as a community site. I also 
have a new Mustang community site that I want to bring 
alive. The garage part of the forum system is perfect for 
community/profile style sites. Remember the recommended 
xoops does not have a very good profile system in fact its 
hateful at best. Unless you have php5 then you could use 
miths mod at the smartfactory. I dont have or will have 
php5 on my vps no time soon. I dont want to break 
eveything on the server. ...script_fu

60) Mudnut - clairification - Pretty much i am looking for 
a module to do the same as this one for phpbb.... 
http://www.phpbbgarage.com/ . It allows members to upload 
photos of their vehicle, review modifications, rate shops, 
etc etc. Almost an advanced users page that you can give 
member only individual access to show off a vehicle 
(unlike user page, which seems to give any registered user 
access).

Ok, enuff is enuff, why add a forum to a site with a 
forums in it?


why not just add the garage to Xoops? instead of another 
forum?


I propose a XOOPS based garage module for xoops.

NationForums' and not here? Isn't it a "Module Request" 
Forum?

Anyway, I believe that we have to clarify the requirements 
first, here, in public. Then, and if there is not any 
other ideas, proposals or help, we can see alternatives.


Up to now, I see these requirements:

- "It allows members to upload photos of their vehicle, 
review modifications, rate shops, etc etc." (Mudnuts4x4)
 "Im in the used auto parts business. I also sell new 
aftermarket auto parts. I would love to have any of the 
above you have suggested." (script_fu)

- Some of mine (post #57)

They can be different modules and (I guess) that there are
people that can help

around 100 makers
and with the 100 makers there are 900 models

and i was thinking about just placing a these in a lang file, LOL

nope....
looks like a sql files are needed.

We are going to have a problem with us/uk/au ect. ect. so it needs to be more modular based on country codes I would think.

Manufactures are no problem.
Models are a whole different story.

Its going to be hard to have every model in the list.

I was going to code something like this for a web site of mine that I have had no time to bring to fruition.

I could do it, but I already have at least 3 other modules that I am trying to work on, so it's not going to happen as things are.

I thought about that, so i need to make it a sql based db, and not just from the lang files.
it would be easy for translators, but it will be faster and less of a headack for all.

The original thread was mud4by4 and request for an XOOPS module.

It moved to Northern and an off-site location for continued discussion along the lines of building such a module.

Just bringing a portion of the discussion back to XOOPS for futher input for those of us not interested in registering on another site to watch how the module discussion progresses and looking for other community input that may not have been here when the original discussion began.

There doesn't seem to be an area on XOOPS for such discussions but I believe there should be.

Hey, I'm just a community member with input now, no say at all in the way things are handled. I can only suggest.

A garage module would be nice, it could be used for all kinds of businesses.

we have dev.xoops, but im not to keen on that type of setup, it confuses me, lol

as for the module...
it has many derections it can go, think about it.

its a Enthusiust module
custom built pc's, hand made alfgans, baseball cards, ect...

we, or i , infact any one can
from a simple sql updated from a php file or....

there will be a admins panel

in that panel there will be a section to add,delete or alter your makes and models.

editing a sql file is as easy are editing a php file.
bolth are almost the same. thow they are from two other sources.
