The module name is 'cars' and it is a hacked very known XOOPS module (which I don't remember wright now bu I can find out) 54) RECAP - The original topic starter "MudNuts4x4" has a 4x4 Truck site that is set up as a community site. I also have a new Mustang community site that I want to bring alive. The garage part of the forum system is perfect for community/profile style sites. Remember the recommended xoops does not have a very good profile system in fact its hateful at best. Unless you have php5 then you could use miths mod at the smartfactory. I dont have or will have php5 on my vps no time soon. around 100 makers
and with the 100 makers there are 900 models

and i was thinking about just placing a these in a lang file, LOL

nope....
looks like a sql files are needed.

We are going to have a problem with us/uk/au ect. ect. so it needs to be more modular based on country codes I would think.

Manufactures are no problem.
Models are a whole different story.

Its going to be hard to have every model in the list.

I was going to code something like this for a web site of mine that I have had no time to bring to fruition.

I could do it, but I already have at least 3 other modules that I am trying to work on, so it's not going to happen as things are.

I thought about that, so i need to make it a sql based db, and not just from the lang files.
it would be easy for translators, but it will be faster and less of a headack for all.

The original thread was mud4by4 and request for an XOOPS module.

It moved to Northern and an off-site location for continued discussion along the lines of building such a module.

Just bringing a portion of the discussion back to XOOPS for futher input for those of us not interested in registering on another site to watch how the module discussion progresses and looking for other community input that may not have been here when the original discussion began.

There doesn't seem to be an area on XOOPS for such discussions but I believe there should be.

Hey, I'm just a community member with input now, no say at all in the way things are handled. I can only suggest.

A garage module would be nice, it could be used for all kinds of businesses.

we have dev.xoops, but im not to keen on that type of setup, it confuses me, lol

as for the module...
it has many derections it can go, think about it.

its a Enthusiust module
custom built pc's, hand made alfgans, baseball cards, ect...

we, or i , infact any one can
from a simple sql updated from a php file or....

there will be a admins panel

in that panel there will be a section to add,delete or alter your makes and models.

editing a sql file is as easy are editing a php file.
bolth are almost the same. thow they are from two other sources.
