Re: [XoopsProject] proposal - XOOPS End Users Team

Skenow,
I would like to review the modules that are a part of this theme package. It looks to me like a very nice setup. My request was a simple one, provide the links to the modules needed. Don't expect the new user to have to shop around to find them.

On this site that is very difficult, sometimes the modules are in a language we don't even speak.

No modules are a "part of this theme". Those are example links.

No modules are "needed". It is assumed that the user understands that the links are provided as an example.

BlueStocking,

PLEASE take a tour of the News releases and repository and see how many themes have sample navigation like this. You are the first person I've seen that didn't understand that those links are an *example*.

If a user downloads a template from say, TemplateMonster and it has sample links for "About", "Services", "Contact", etc... People don't question where those pages are, they *know* those are examples.

When we stick to the issues it should not matter what nic or handle we are posting under. To me, the handle is a way of indentifing the post we are referring to in the conversation. I usally do the italitics for the post I am refering to, and could care less about the name attached.

In sorting legimate end-user business from personal rants, which I could be famous for if I allowed it, I prefer to switch user ID's.

I am sorry if my preferrences offend you but unless you have a more valid reason than your confusion I will continue to post in whichever nic I feel comfortable with.

It is neither meant to be rude or deceptive, so I have added my signature to my profile which should clear up any confusion you may have had.

Regards...

ok a two minute search.Quote:

Nope your right why let someone else do any work when we can do it all for them.

Ok after a whole two minutes of searching I found the following:

Smart modules including smartsections comes from the Smart Factory:

http://www.smartfactory.ca

Mydownloads are kinda depreciated now, however Smart Factory have a downloads module, it's pretty cool too.

Liaise (a custom contact form module) is from Brandy Coke (a good dev too, did some work for me a few years ago):

http://www.brandycoke.com

The mylinks module is a links directory, and can be found @

http://www.herve-thouzard.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=7&lid=96

I believe there are a couple of other versions about some where too?

And XHLD is a news syndication module developed @

http://xoops.peak.ne.jp

newbb is a forum module and developed by DJ:

http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/?newbb

Now I know we shouldn't expect people to have to spend a few minutes searching, in fact why do we include the search button, we should do it all for them?

As a favor to me would you please provide the links to the downloads of those modules. I wish to replicate the theme you posted and setup you have posted. I would rather not have to guess or search the modules out.

Why are having a discussion over this request. It would be much simpler and helpful to provide the download links and be over with it.

I AM an end-user.
Thank you

You don't need to replicate the theme, he's giving it away free, just download it and install.

Seems a lot of work replicating a theme, when it's already available.

[EDIT] Ohh I also gave you links above to where those modules are

Took a whole 2 or 3 minutes of searching.

You are not offending me - please don't make this personal. As a site moderator it is my duty to try to ensure that the forums stay easy to use for all users. Your use of two names can be a source of confusion. It' sreally that simple. Nothing to do with personailities or anything else so don't be offended.

@akitson,
I apologize, I did not note the moderator next to your name and did not recognize your status. That was my error and I came off as somewhat rude. Again, I apologize, I was wrong.

I did, at the time even though I did not understand your authority in asking, add both of the names as a single signature in a legimate compromise effort.

Now, whichever moniter I log in as there is a single signature that should eliminate any confusion, allowing me the preference of keeping my posts sorted according to their purpose and my needs.

Thank you for understanding.
