YouTube Mod

Having tried every Mod available to import youtube videos I am at a loss.

It would be wonderful if there was a cast iron mod with support and english installation instructions.

Having videos as entertainment is a cool thing to have on XOOPS sites.

Wish it was a straight forward procedure.

Cheers

The webshow module works with youtube now as does the X_movies module, I know of many sites that successfully uses those modules.

See my review of the webshow module:

Need to stream some videos or music? We have modules - Click Here

The dev site for the module is here:

Web Show Project - Click Here

See his latest release: Get v.53_patch_movie to Play You Tube

Hope this helps.

Re: YouTube Mod

Hi Tom
Thanks for your reply
I have tried both on the 2.0.16 and none have worked for me.
Tried for a full day, but no joy.
I am waiting for the next release of web show which I think (hope) is going to be designed a bit more with youtube in mind.
Cheers

Why could you not just import the HTML that is given for the youtube video? What is it specifically you are trying to accomplish with the specific module?

Re: YouTube Mod

Hi
All I am trying to do is play youtube videos on the website that will interest my users. I have never worked with this kind of media before so maybe i'm not getting it??.

I know you can copy and paste the "embed" code but do you know how get the movies to play?

Thanks
Alistair

My thought was to make a custom block with the code embedded in it or paste the code into a static page. That should work for you.

PS If you look in the embed code that youtube gives you, you can change the size parameters and make the video whatever size you want.

Bear in mind if you cut-n-paste any code, JavaScript etc. into a WYSIWYG editor, it will probably 'correct' it - i.e. trash it so it doesn't work. You need to use an editor that allows 'raw' HTML input.
A thread is for life. Not just for Christmas.

mmmm I'm not sure why this doesn't work for you, I've personally tried both modules on XOOPS 2.0.16 I also tried it on 2.2 and it seemed OK.

What issues exactly were you having, were there any errors?

I've also successfully managed to get a life web stream/shoutcast to run through the webshow module.

Re: YouTube Mod

There is a YouTube plugin for TinyEditor. With this, you can import YouTube video's in an article or a forum post, see http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1197
