CSS-layout. Quite difficult with XOOPS I discovered, but I'm not a designer so perhaps thats why.

Deleting is a very bad idea as I like your idea of posting sites with an original look. I always like discovering them to get ideas for my own XOOPS sites!

Personally I like the designs this Dutch guys usually make. It's a pity the site is down for maintanace at the moment

Here's a site that I made a long time ago, that doesn't really have the standard look-and-feel of Xoops:

http://advermap.com/

(this is a framed site, with XOOPS and the Content module providing the page content)

If you don't want a site to look like Xoops, the easiest way to do this is by using the Theme Changer module, and making a different theme for each of the main sections of your site. Say you are using the default theme. You make a clone of the default theme, by renaming the module something else, and then renaming the file names as well (and I think you have to go through the code of each file in the theme, and change the name there as well...not really as hard as it sounds). So now you have a clone of your first theme. You use the Theme Changer module to set the main default theme as your home page, and the Default2 theme (the cloned theme) as the theme for another module on the site. With this second theme, you can edit the theme to remove columns, re-position the arrangement of the module and block content etc. So you end up with a theme that looks pretty much like the main, original theme, but slightly different. Do this across the site, using a different cloned theme for each module, and the site starts looking very different from a regular XOOPS site. You can use php includes files in each theme if you want to be able to update part of each theme all at once (for anything that is hard-coded into the theme).

Hope that helps someone,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I like the theme you used for the advermap site. Looking at your source it is named "legend theme" but cannot be found when using the usual bots. Can you point me in the good direction?

Cheers,
Hans

The Legend theme was just the most simple theme that I could find at the time... I think I got it from the theme directory, way back down the list.

But if you wanted to do something similar, I would use the latest version of the default theme today. What I did on the above site, was to first create an L -shaped frame design (so, a frame for the top bar, side bar, main window, and then a frameset file to contain all these frames). In the main frame, or the main content window, I think I placed an
