The Handbook challenge is starting today at http://www.xoops4noobs.fr(only in french, sorry ; I don't speak another tongue).

The fisrt aim is to update an old manual ; you can download it : here

When it will be done, I give a french copy to traducers (with english, spanish and brazilian screenshots). I've wrote a small tutorial about the revision of pdf by email ; in french (for the moment, i'm looking for someone able to translate it in english) : here

- Chapter I of Manual for noobs (Xoops 2.0.16). It's talking about xoops' installation (not very interesting but may be useful to begin) and published in 4 version :

1 - french screenshots + french text
2 - brazilian screenshots + french text
3 - spanish screenshots + french text
4 - english screenshots + french text

Hi !

Handbook Challenge is closed today, and results are not those which I've planned at the start. Actually only the fisrt chapter (about XOOPS installation is completed). Two reasons taht I will try to explain (sorry for my bad english).

First reason (the main one): I've realize that job has to be made by a team and 30 days is too short for me...

Second reason : I've stopped all my work for 10 days now, after some readings on xoops.org' forums. I just don't know what to think about some topics about futur of XOOPS wich have been closed without any explainations, some others censured !!! So I want to believe that guys-moderators have made this kind of sacrilege (in my point of vue ) with good reasons... but it requires at least some arguments. May be I'm wrong, but I've don't see anything, no more about Xoops' future... Then I'am a bit worried and I prefer to stop this challenge and past my time to do something else (actually to learn XoopsCube).

May be a new challenge later, with the new Xoops'version... I don't ask when hmmm ? I don't leave XOOPS (NEVER !), just a priority right now. I'am really sorry for all contributors who have look for all this modules and packs of language for me...


So usable results of this ridiculous challenge are :
• a notice about xoops'installation (step by step and for noobs)
• a « method » to make translations and collaborative work (thanks to Ana for french to english translation) > here
• a brazilian translation in work now (many many thanks to Giba) > wiki

• pdf : english and spanish version (only screenshots, text have to be translate using comments, you can send me back your translation if you want)

The manual looks great! Thank you for the effort and setting the example for future works.

I am also intrigued by the PDF/email document sharing used to produce this - this possibly gives me a reason to move to Adobe v7 or v8. Up till now, only v6 has worked reliably for me (on many different computers and operating systems)
