Everything went fine on my localhost except attachments. I have the same problem as piroman and I want to save only pictures. I'm newbie, and maybe attachments are converted , but I can't to make them work ,to set preferences or something like this.
Please help me with this, because the end of my horror is near.
Once again I would like to send you enormous gratitude and thank You so much.

I never worked with atttachments on cbb, but I know that the smf converter script checks if attachments are activated.
So you should activate (before conversion) attachments in the admin section of your smf forum.
Maybe you can choose the same directory for these attachments as you have for cbb.

Possible you will get errors if the cbb handling of attachments is different from that of newbb.
Then you'll have to look at the structure of cbb attachments and change things in the converter file.

Thank You for the replay.
I made mistake, when I wrote attachment I meant pictures. I have only pictures under attachment
I use XOOPS 2.2.3 and for forum module CBB 2.3. CBB stores pictures under directory
C:/apache2triad/htdocs/mysite/uploads/newbb/
and thumbnails
C:/apache2triad/htdocs/mysite/uploads/newbb/thumbs/
I don't have imagemagic just GD2 library (I think that it's right name), but pictures display in posts. So server works for pictures, maybe I'm wrong because I'm total beginner.
I used converter to convert XOOPS and it's CBB to SMF 1.1.2 and every worked fine. Users, entire board, topics and posts were converted. But when I go to some post who have some picture I don't see it. Like it isn't there. This is for all posts with pictures. I put path
C:/apache2triad/htdocs/mysite/uploads/newbb/ into SMF preferences for attachments but nothing happen. I honestly don't know what is the problem.
Please help me with this since it is the only problem. I'm so eager to go online.

The path / directory of your images is not converted so every picture still points to your 'online' site (for instance http://www.mysite.com/uploads/newbb)
You are testing it now on your local server and that's why you don't see the pictures.

Just fill the database of your online smf with the converted data and then you will see your pictures.
(but remember to run the repair settings and adjust your settings of themes and so on)

HTH

Unfortunately after I went online I still don't have pictures. Maybe it is something small error that I made, but situation is quite disturbing, since I'm so close to the end.
This is what I did. I went to SMF admin and I put
/home/lucky/public_html/uploads/newbb
as directory for attachments
but noting, I didn't uninstall XOOPS still, since I don't have pictures displaying.
Here is same post in CBB and SMF so maybe this will give You a clue what is wrong

Svaha, as much as I understand. Your converted board has img attachments? Is there some trick, something else where Lucky is mistaking?

Sorry for reacting so late.
Did you manage to convert your sites? Or still problems?

@Piroman, I did not have attachments on cbb, so I did not encounter a problem here.
I looked into the source of the conversion program and this did a check for attachments.

Svaha,

thanks for your answer. We're still having problems with attachments. Users and messages are converted fine. Lucky_phd converted his site, and manually added attachments, but I have a problem with thousands of attachments, it's impossible to do them manually.

its a pity this thread was highjacked as it is no longer about the question I asked which was to do with an smf module for xoops.

It has become a thread for how to move from XOOPS to smf which was ot what I asked, so if you are out there nd have a way of converting any known version of smf to a XOOPS module or converting a smf modukle for a XOOPS branch so it works with XOOPS 2.016 please get in touch, better still if you can convert cbb to this smf module.

I am thinking this would probably be unlikely but I can live in hope
