Hi Folks.. I don't know where to put this question, so here it goes in the General section.

My site is http://www.unc.org.tt

Everything was working fine until the other day when the top banner just disappeared. I switched to different themes and the banner still wont show. I tried hard coding the banner into the theme html, and even that didn't work. This may just be a design problem, but if it was, the banner should have shown under the other themes.

Any ideas?

Check your administration/system/preferences/general_settings and see if Activate Banner is set to YES.

Yes, the "Activate Banner Ads" is set to yes.

Re: Banner Disappered

I went to google and see the banner that is on the page I accessed is the same banner you have been using.

http://google.com

in the criteria box put the word "site"(colon)and the address of your site, as shown below.

site:http://www.unc.org.tt/

I then looked at the images accessable from the top google selections. No images looked like banners that may have been used in the past.

So my question is
http://www.unc.org.tt/banners/uncbanner.jpg

Is this the banner you are looking for or is it another one?

I put your html version of the index.html into frontpage and it appeared the banner was missing.

However after awhile I caught on that it was centered on the page and the page was extremely wide. The banner was only visible by using the scrollbar at the bottom the length of two or three pages.

Which brings me to the question, have you changed the editor you were using to edit the page and is that where your dissappearing banner might be?

Hopefully that is all it is...
but chances are I am just not understanding the full problem.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply and advice. The problem is now solved (hopefully).

Here is what happened:

The site has been running under XOOPS 2.0.16 for a couple months now, without any problems (relevant to this topic).

About a week ago, the top banner disappeared without warning. I thought it may have been a problem with the theme, the database, or the banner.php file. When I changed/reloaded all of these, the problem still persisted.

However, when the directory containing the banners were renamed from ..mysite.com/banners/ or ...mysite.com/banner/ to something else, the banners reappeared.

So the problem is most likely at the webhost side. I will have to investigate further. Thank you again for your replies

Same happened to me couple of months ago. I've change the directory name and it works now. I guess, the webhost banned all graphics with the "banner" work in it - be it the file itself, or the directory...
