also i'd like to point out that community isn't development.
if you want to influence development, then join the core team (if you have the necessary skills), another way to influence the development process is to use the bug tracker & feature request trackers on sf.net, because quite simply, in the near future, these trackers on sf.net will be the only methods accepted by the core team for feature requests/bug reports. ie. if it's not on the tracker, then it's got no chance at all of being in the core. (and yes this will require some interaction with the community in order to make sure valid bugs & feature requests are posted there)
