Okay, I just move my XOOPS site from a sub domain to the root.

I cleared the cache folder, set to 777
I cleared the template_c folder, set to 777
edit and set mainfile.php to 755

the site runs well. but in the admin page. the modules are missing.

I searched in XOOPS and it says that the adminmenu.php should generate on its own. but it didn't work. nothing was generated.

so what do i do now.
I want my admin page back like before.

please help. thanks

you can try removing folders (other than System) in your /modules dir one at a time to see if one of them is the culprit.

Do you get any php debug errors at all?

I just manage to run a debug.
everytime i edit something in the system preference.
the page goes blank and no settings will be saved.

three of the module icons are visible now.
the rest goes blank.

debug msg:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting T_VARIABLE or '$' in /home/eco5959/public_html/modules/news/xoops_version.php on line 205

Notice: Only variables should be assigned by reference in file /modules/system/admin/modulesadmin/modulesadmin.php line 46

Does this mean its the news module?

your welcome!

I have a 2.2.x site that had that problem for months before I found the cause just this past week

mine were from unused modules I had uploaded, though I forgot to note which one it was
