xoops_session table is empty

Site is working ok so far, users are able to register and login. However, I noticed that the table xoops_session is always empty. Is this ok?

Xoops 2.0.16
CentOS 4.4
Apache 2
Mysql 4.1.20
PHP 4.3.9

Well considering it is the slow part of XOOPS MySql system, unsure

Normally it will store what users are doing on the site…

Make sure all files are there for Xoops, as it should keep a record of who is online and where people are in the system.
the faster Xoops_session runs the faster your site, can retrieve anybodies position whilst surfing the site.

Yet if all installed ok and everything works ok, then it should contain data when people are surfing.

I'm not familiar with 2.0.16, but do you have set "Use custom sessions" to yes in Administration Menu -> system admin -> Preferences -> General Settings?

Yes I have custom sessions activated, Perhaps the fact that I did an upgrade from 2.0.13->2.0.16 has something to do with it.

What script inserts the xoops_session data into the table?. In debug mode the only inserts that I see are the ones to xoops_online...

Sessions will get dropped after a while, depending on your timeout settings via general admin settings. Sometimes these add up over time and need to be cleared out.

These are safe to clear out at any time. I generaly have custom sessions off to keep sql usage low.

Clearing these tables will log off current users if you decide to do some house cleaning when your site is a little busy with user activity.

Your site's not broken and everything appears to working as intended

Thanks for the clarifications. However, I am planing to install 123flashchat and it seems that it obtains the users info through the xoops_session table.

resolved:

Changed session.auto_start to "0" in php.ini and it worked.
