As a beginner, I have progressed a long way during the last week working with ver. 2, installing modules, running down bugs, etc.

But I just did something, I don't know what, but when I either click on the Administration Menu or Control Panel Home link, all of the icons to manage the modules are gone. I have the header, footer, etc, but no icons!

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Eric

These icons will disappear if the admenu.php file is removed from the cache/ directory. If, when logging into your Administrator control panel the file isn't created, then there is a problem with the permissions on your cache/ directory. On most hosting accounts, you will need to set the permissions on the cache/ directory to chmod 777. On some hosts, you can get by with the stricter 755 setting (if they run apache with suexec).

Hi,

I have just signed on to the forums and was just about to ask the same question myself. I have the same problem (occurred two days ago while adjusting the Avatars). I have checked the permissions for the cache folder. It is 777 as you list.

I picked XOOPS because it is so user friendly, the downside of this is that I'm no technical wiz. Therefore I don't have the first idea how to fix this.

Anybody able to suggest a solution to get back the Administration menu?

I'm pretty stuffed without it!

Cheers

Jon

Hi,

Can anyone suggest any solutions to my problem?

I'm absolutely stuck. I can't get into the administration menu at all.

Help!

If logged in can you get to it by typing in
your site.com/admin.php ?

Hi Quest,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my Q.

It generates the same page. It looks like this:

Resized Image

None of the modules or admin components are there.

If you rename the adminmenu.php file in yoursite/cache/ directory then it forces a new one to be generated when you visit yoursite/admin.php... that might help.

(if it doesn't work you can always change the name back)

Thanks JCDunnart,

That did the trick. Problem solved!

Easy when you know how, eh?

Don't forget that your adminmenu.php needs to be "writable"
