This has probably been discussed millions of times before, but is there a simple way of getting rid of the /modules/ part of the XOOPS urls?
Ok, changing .htaccess to turn on url rewrite to get rid of the /modules/ part is easy, but the problem is that /modules/ seems to be hardcoded everywhere, both in the core and modules.
Has anybody tried to do this?
The problem is that for example Google downgrades urls with long pathnames, and it is not very pretty.

That is the answer to your question......

It is part of the XOOPS structure and module developers expect users' sites to have this structure.

In the words of Run DMC:

Only way around it, is to use URL rewriting techniques, which have been covered in the forum before.

Yes, I was trying to find that, but without any luck. Another reason I asked, is that Google is starting to display "subresults", it might help with that:
http://www.google.is/search?q=daily+mail
