I suspect that the originator of this thread means "Why is Newbb1 still available when there is Newbb2 in the module repository and CBB3 in Dev Forge?"

Very fair question IHMO as it must be very confusing for new users.

IT IS!

Is there a way to change that? Why not to upgrade also other modules to their latest versions???? LIke news 1.0 to 1.4 etc.

going on your way of thinking, why are any of the older XOOPS version there too? like XOOPS 2.0.7 & 2.0.9 etc..

some people still use older module versions, that's why they are still there. it's an archive afterall ;)

i'd dread to think of the amount of complaints and moaning if the older versions were to suddenly not be available anymore.

In some cases, they work better than the new versions

vaughan,

I am not talking whether to archive or not, I am talking about the CURRENT stable distribution. Sorry me, but I really think it is better to give users the most latest the most easiest way.

Similar talks going on here also: https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?forum=8&topic_id=57101

but the older version is 'stable'.

just because it's older doesn't mean it isn't a stable release.

anyhow, if you read some of the other threads on XOOPS developments you'll see that the whole xoops.org site is being restructured, and a new module repository is being developed which will be more organised anyway. so your voice will have had some meaning once the addons site is opened. :)

Older versions means stability. I always use the second last version of any software.
