I had serious problems getting constantly logged out from my site until I went into the admin preferences and turned on custom sessions and then sat the sessions optin to 60 minutes.

Which implications will this have on the system? Now I don't have any problems with permissions anymore, but I have changed some values in the system and I really don't know what I actually have done. Will this choice have any effect on the performance or something else?

I have searched a bit regarding sessions, but I havent found anything really claryfing. Unfortunately I'm not a technican, but the system I have put on web and tuned for some months now really works great.

i always run with custom sessions.

basically when using custom sessions, XOOPS determines the SESSION times etc and handles those accordingly via cookies.

when custom sessions is disabled, the SESSIONS are handled by PHP itself, so the session time will be determined by the time set for session expiry in php.ini (which many don't have control of)
