if you dont change any files its probably an issue in your MySQL server.

anyway check database name and user/pass in your mainfile.php

mainfile.php is in your root directory ( the directory that you install xoops)

you should check your XOOPS_DB_NAME XOOPS_DB_USER AND XOOPS_DB_PASS and see if they are correct

but as i said before if you dont touch anything its an issue from your server side.contact to your hosting provider.

1- do you create a database using Cpanel?
2- do you create a user for your database in Cpanel
3- do you assign that user to your database?
4- do you check all variables in mainfile.php?

and please do not shout.

To connect you XOOPS installation to a database you need three items:

1. A database name.

2. A database username

3. A database password.

All of this information is stored in mainfile.php so XOOPS can automatically connect to the database as needed.

So you need to check everything as you have been advised by everyone. There is more information about Databases in the FAQ section. Please also note this:

New users should always checkout the following:
1. Documentation - linked on the left. Specifically the administration manual
2. The FAQ section - linked on the left - specifically the sections on gloassry, beginners first steps, modules, blocks and themes. There are links to visual tutorials here.
3. The search function on the top right.
Please check also the read B4U post link below if you have problems.
