When trying to install the phpBB module, I get this error.

Installing Message Board

users is a reserved table!

Unable to install pbboard. Error(s):

The only users table I have on the database is prefixed Xoops_Users. I dont have a php_users.

He's reffering to the one from http://www.bbpixel.com

Have you made sure that you are using the module for the correct XOOPS version?

Ah...my bad. Sorry.

There is a module in the repository called X-phpbb but comments suggest that it might not work with current XOOPS systems....

I used the first php Module in the list, not the X module. I am using version 2.015 Xoops. It shows up in my Admin panel as ready to install. But then I get the databse error.

PBB 1.13 or CBB 1.16? Both are quite old now and I'm wondering if there might be issues using them with more recent XOOPS versions. But I'm new around here and am probably wrong

I use CBB 3.08, available from the Dev Forge. Works really well with XOOPS 2.0.16 and would respectfully suggest that you do the same. You'll need the latest Frameworks and xoopseditors too. Big uploads, but worth it IMHO.

1.13. I have a board already set up and running. I basicly dumped the board included in the download and replaced it with my own. It seems to want to install it. Im just getting the database error. Im not a MySQL expert but it seems to be a conflict with creating the tables. The script is trying to create a user table prefixed php_users and I have on the databse a XOOPS table called Xoops_users.

So then I tried to import my phpbb database into the XOOPS databse and just remove the sql script from the download where it tries to create the databse. However, when I do that it gives me an error that it cant find the SQL script . HA, no kidding, I dont want to re-create the tables if they are already there...Ha.

Anyway, its a circle. If I dont have the tables it gives the error of the table "users" is reserved. If I add the tables already and dont run the sql script it looks for the script and gives that error.

Argghhh!

you can't use a phpbb database with the XOOPS phpbb modules because they are not the same. you would need a conversion script. it says this in the instructions (not that same wording though)

they are both modified versions of an old phpbb version (phpbb v.2.0.11 i believe) which contain all the exploits and security vulnerabilities that are very common with phpbb itself. and both are for versions of XOOPS i believe 2.0.10 and will not work on any other version. it also says that in the instructions too.

to sum up: there is no phpbb module for current xoops, and there is no phpbb module that is current with actual current phpbb versions either.

bbpixel.com are no longer developing x-phpbb module either, and the author of PBB 1.13 which i believe is bd_csmc is no longer developing that either and hasn't done for a long while.

You would be much better using CBB instead...
