I have been testing headlines and .rss modules for the past week. The best one is Planet, but it has bugs.

Many of them don't work at all. I have realized though, that there are NONE that work right. With so many people developing different ones, why not get together and make ONE that works right? I was just going through looking at all of them. There are SO many. I just need ONE.

Like I said, Planet works and it looks like development is going good. Why not help with that one? I would be totally happy if there wasn't that date bug.....

For quite awhile now, with every version of Xoops, I hear people saying that there's no point in fixing a module for the current version, because the next version will be so much better but then the fixed module won't be compatible anyway. That's why there are so many modules that haven't been updated since 2003 and 2004. They didn't work then. They don't work now. The bug reports are so old that THEY have bugs.

I have been in love with this CMS since I found it early in 2004.

It just bugs me some that so many modules that are still labelled "stable and production" don't work at all. It's time to kick them back into development. When you waste hours and hours installing modules that don't work it gets old. I AM learning some .php in my spare time, when I have spare time, and if I find a solution to anything, rest assured I will post it and share it. We're all in this together. I have about 20 Xoops-based websites. I'm in way too deep to back out now.

I am done ranting now. Can anyone spare a good working .rss/ XML feed fetching, parsing, displaying and archiving module? Or how about just kicking down a fix for Planet?

Oh, well. It was worth a try.

(Yes, I ALWAYS check the comments, mod dev, developers' sites etc. for fixes and latest versions.)
