After install of 2.0.16 only login caption an mainmenu captions show, no buttons

Hi,

I've installed the 2.0.16 version of XOOPS for a friend of mine but I kinda stuck at the moment. After installation (did it twice) tried to call the Homepage and got only the Header, Footer and 2 Captions for 'login' and 'Main Menu'. No buttons are showing.

Tried to settting the value for the '_MD_AM_DEBUGMODE' to 1 in the 'xoops_config' file. No debugging is showing.

I couldn't install XOOPS using the 'index.php' so I changed that to 'new.php'. Don't think that has any influence. You can see the result yourselves at:

Paul.

I think it's templates cache problem, try to delete all files ( except index.html ) inside templates_c folder and be sure CHMOD 777 for this folder.

Doesn't solve it. Already read something about that. Oops.. even removed the index.html Copied it back. CHMOD 777 cache/ and templates_c/ and no result!

ok .. try xoops_md5.php ! may be some files not uploaded well.

--------------------------

Files integrity check

The full XOOPS package is now released with a script able to check if all the system files were correctly uploaded to the server. To use it, follow these instructions:

1. Upload the xoops_md5.php and xoops.md5 files located in the XOOPS package root to your XOOPS server folder (putting them next to mainfile.php).
2. Execute xoops_md5.php with your browser
3. If necessary, re-upload the missing or corrupted system files
4. Remove xoops_md5.php and xoops.md5 from your server

Yep, very helpfull indeed. I'm using FileZilla for the the FTP and I'm starting to believe this is not a very solid tool at the moment. I get a lot of transfer errors (waiting for next attempt) which causes files of 0 bytes length. I'll try another tool. Thanks for your help!

Well.... I've been happy a bit too early. Now the xoops_md5.php doesn't report any files wrong anymore but the problem hasn't gone away. I've copied all the files to the server (again) deleted the XOOPS database and ran the Install/index.php. To my suprise all the Data I had entered (password, MySQL userID, etc...) was still present (?). Maybe have to clean all an do the whole process again (sigh). Got any other clues as what goes wrong?
