ok, but i still cant login under admin and get into the admin area. i still have the problem of loging in. although i have been in the amin area many mnay times its asking me if this is my first time, wether i say submit or decline it keeps taking back to the same page. , i also cannot login the first time in the user block i have to login in the forgot my passowrd page login. new members are not being able to register. but when i did the upgrade as you suggested i lost the authfactory.php somehow and that what was causing my blank pages, fortunetly i figured that one out.. this one i cannot.

its a strange behavior.

- are you sure about folder "cache" permission = 777?

- are you sure about all files owning and permissions?
all files 644 and all folders 755
except of: cache ,uploads,templates_c = 777
and mainfile.php 444

ok, i went back and checked


cache ,uploads,templates_c = 777
mainfile.php = 444

now all of the other folders in the root are 777
all of them are.

i havent changed anything other than hit that use ssl of login in admin ???? but the others you asked about are set right but all other folders in the public_hml directory are 777 i didnt go deeper

dont know if this means anything but i went to include/checklogin.php file and its 777

if i understood you correctly all other files and folders should be set

are you sure about all files owning and permissions?

Yes all that permissions in my prev. post are right.

but i think someone from core or someone with more knowledge can better assist you.

first off all: i just mentioned you wrote the domain without "www" in mainfile.it may cause issues in SSL.

ask your server admin if there is an antivirus or firewall installed in the server. they can view apache logs and tell you any error they found.
also i see this error in admin:
Warning: xoops_cp_footer(/cache/adminmenu.php) [function.xoops-cp-footer]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in file /include/cp_functions.php line 159

and it means "cache" folder is not writable!

ok, first off i am sorry , i didnt understadn that i need the http://www.vac...... of of the mainfile.php

i thought you asked what it was but never said to take it off or change it. but ANYWAY as soon as i made sure the cahe folder was writable and it was as 777. i knew it was !! i changed the url to http://vacaresource.com and saved my mainfile.php set the permissions back and guess what the whole site works again. got into admin and all, unless you changed something i dont know about that was all it... thanks again for you patience and helping figure this out. i noticed even the mods for this board wouldnt even chime in to help when they were online.

Couple of reasons for this -
1. someone was already helping you - a moderator no less.
2. We do not necessarily have the answers to everything
3. we do chime in if we think we can ad to or assist in a discussion.
4. It's the xmas season...some of us have a life that gets in the way.
