oh im having so much trouble with this XOOPS thing
i downloaded the news module...which seems to work great
i made topics and set my permissions
now why can i only have 2 storys on the main page?
how do i add more stories?
is there any news mod that just auto-posts your stories on the main page without having to screw with the blocks?
switching from postnuke has been alot harder then i had expected.

It might seem like a hard switch at this point in time, but the security is much nicer. and alot less problems.
Ive been there, and ive done the switch, not for just my sites, but for many others.

As for the news module, What module version do you have?
and whats your XOOPS version?

The number of articles posted on the top page is related to a parameter in the preferences of the module.

Verify display permissions for all categories and for each users' groups.

ok it says all the topics are vis. to anon users
but still only shows 2 stories and a link to others (GAY!)
i think this is too much stuff for a freaking news article
i just was to be able to post news with a topic to the main page of my dang site
why do i have to change permissions and check this parameter?
someone tell me something usefull
http://www.downpour-online.com/news <----postnuke
http://www.downpour-online.com/xoops <----xoops
i want my XOOPS to look more like my postnuke site

You could make news the module shown on your home page - Administration Menu - System - Preferences - General Settings: Module for your start page.

You appear to have selected a 4 column layout for the News articles. Also, if you select 'By Topic' as the News Display Layout in the News module preferences
Quote:
News Display Layout

Classic shows all news ordered by date of publish. News by topic will group the news by topic with the latest story in full and the others with just the title

Most of the XOOPS modules have many options that provide the flexibility to achieve just about any style site you would like, and give you the added stability and security of the XOOPS base.

Which news block are you using on your home page? There are more than 5 different blocks to choose from.
You can control the content of the block by clicking on edit in the Blocks Admin.
