templates_c Folder Question

Thinking about trying out the new extgallery and one of the instructions is to delete all files from the templates_c folder except the index page.

Is it safe to have a regular clearout of this folder whenever you want to, does this have any affect on the site at all.

Can't seem to find any info on this

As far as I know yes and have done many times before...Template_C is the templates cache...and cache folder can also...

These are also reset by pressing submit in general prefrences...
