Re: My newbb has stopped working

This may seem to be from left field but try running a repair on your sessions table in php myadmin...just might fix your logging in problem. Let us know if it works.

ugh, i messed up big time.I had a back up of my database and i restored it and it looks like it was corrupt and some of my tables are all messed up.

It cant find sessions table among a couple of others.

All the data in my forums/links/articles is still there, is there any way back or will i have to cut my losses and start afresh?

If you search the FAQ section there is information on creating and restoring backups - but if it is as messy as you seem to be suggesting starting over may be the better way to go. Picking where the gaps are, and restoring some but not all of your tables from a site backup because of gaps sounds rather too complex. It is up to you.

At the moment what i am doing is exporting all the working tables, table by table from the old database, into a new one.

The ones that look like they have all the info in (_user, _config _bb_categories, etc) are fine.

If i copy them into a new database, then do a fresh install on that database with the same table prefix, will it overwrite those tables?

I dont want to have to set up the forum again.

If you need help, ask for it.

I emailed dot 5 (my hosts) and sent them a screen shot of phpmyadmin and said that i didnt know how to error check it with the messed up phpmyadmiin due to table errors.

They fixed it for me, my website is back up and running.

Thanks for the help anyway guys!

I take that back. I'm back to the stage of getting the invalid submission error. the (sql) table is fine.

Re: My newbb has stopped working

Oh dear...try this - your tables will contain and stay with their data.

Simply go through the upload process of CBB again - follow every step carefully overwriting all of the files in the transfer. Do a folder at a time and make sure each one uploads with nothing missing. Then go to your site admin/modules and press 'update' on the cbb module then for good measure update the system module. lets know how it goes. this will take time depending on the speed of connection but could be worth it.

the alternative will be to take a back up of the forum related tables, ununstall cbb, reinstall cbb, make sure it works then restore the data to the tables from your backups...an even longer process.

I rolled back to cbb 3.05 and it is all working, i couldnt find a post on an upgrading bug, i cant be bothered with the hassle of fixing it. I'm going to stick with cbb 3.05

Thanks.
